M.A. Piotr Wawrzyniak is an alumnus of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań, where he accomplished studies in Archaeology on the Faculty of History, defending in 1985 his master thesis: "Motte-and-bailey in Popowo (archaeological site no.1), Pęczniew Municipality, Sieradz Province". In years 1978-2002 he was an employee of the Polish Monuments Conservation Laboratories JSC in Poznań, working as a major specialist in archaeology and director of the Research Laboratory (since 1998). In years 2003-2004 he was working as a director of Archaeological Conservation Laboratory within the POLHAMAR LLC.
Since February 2005 Piotr Wawrzyniak is connected with Archaeological Conservation Laboratory of M.A. Alina Jaszewska. Professionally he specializes in Historical Archaeology with special focus on historical buildings of Poznań and towns of Lubusz Land. He organizes and conducts emergency researches and research projects of preceding character within huge construction investments realized in urban areas.
Piotr Wawrzyniak is director and  participant of numerous archaeological researches and archaeological-architectural monitorings at many Primeval, Medieval and Early Modern archaeological sites, such as:

  • The Old Town of Poznań, Sławna (The Voivodeship of Western Pomerania), Czempina, Środa Wielkopolska, Buk, Pniewy (The Voivodeship of Greater Poland), Kożuchowo, Sulechów, Świebodzin, Żary (Voivodeship of Lubusz) and Riga (Latvia);
  • The Castle Complex of the Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) (Poznań);
  • Castles and manor-houses of Dobrzyca and Chalin (The Voivodeship of Greater Poland), Dzietrzychowice, Krosno Odrzańskie and Żary (Voivodeship of Lubusz);
  • The Post-Cistercian Monastery Complex in Gościkowo-Paradyż (Voivodeship of Lubusz);
  • The range of 'open' archaeological sites in Greater Poland, Łódź and Lubusz Voivodeships.

Piotr Wawrzyniak is an author of nearly hundred articles and other scientific publications (for further details see 'Publications' bookmark), as well as hundreds elaborations and reports, concerning mainly the Medieval and Early Modern archaeology. He is also a member of Archaeological Committee at the Poznań Society of Friends of Learning and the Scientific Association of Polish Archaeologists (Voivodeship of Lubusz Department).

In 1990 Piotr Wawrzyniak was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit for his activity in field of monuments protection and conservation. Moreover he was Awarded the Silver Medal of the  Polish Monuments Conservation Laboratories JSC in Poznań and the Silver Medal for Protecting Monuments (2010).
